Restorative Justice New Mexico

RJCC Programs & Goals

RJCC currently receives referrals from the Juvenile Probation and Parole Office in the three-county area of the 6th Judicial District.

  • We are building capacity to be able to accept requests by anyone, including victims and community members as well as criminal justice and mental/behavioral health agencies, for restorative justice intervention.
  • We are working to build capacity so that adult offenders can be referred as well as juvenile offenders.
  • Funding is the principle limitation to our providing full service to the community.

RJCC currently uses the mediation and circle process models of restorative justice, and are beginning to apply the conferencing model.

The RJCC Training Program provides training in mediation and circle process models.
(More information on training will be published here in the future.)

The RJCC Apprenticeship Program provides trainees an opportunity to practice mediation and circle process skills.
(More information on training will be published here in the future.)

Contact RJCC to indicate your interest in training and apprenticeship.

RJCC will develop specialized programs to serve specific needs as resources become available.

Programs may include:

  • A Neighborhood Conferencing Program that will bring neighbors together to identify and proactively respond to specific problems.
  • A Re-entry Program to help people released from prison become integrated with the neighbors and families they return to reduce fear and increase success.
  • We wish to also work with existing agencies to integrate restorative principles and practices into their programs.
